Job Description

Are you a trade-qualified electrician looking to start or build-upon your experience across the mining sector? If so, read on! Working under the supervision of the Open Pit Electrical Supervisor, this role will be responsible for maintaining all open pit mining electrical systems, and HV Mobile mining equipment to the appropriate regulations and standards. Working a 7 on / 7 off dayshift only roster, this is an exciting opportunity to work for New Zealand’s largest gold mine!

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, and improvements to electrical equipment in the open pit and general mine site
  • Diagnose and rectify faults under the pressure of unscheduled downtime or power outage to maximise plant availability
  • Maintain and fault-find HV infrastructure including substations, switchgear, power reticulation, trailing cables and HV mobile plant
  • Carry out repair and maintenance on lighting plants, generators and dewatering equipment
  • Record all work done and modifications for historical records
  • Attend pre-shift safety and tool box safety meetings
  • Complete Stop and Think and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to undertaking tasks
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) specified for particular equipment or tasks and be involved in the development and review/revision of procedures when required

Qualifications

  • Formal Electrical trade qualification required
  • Current registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
  • Current NZ work rights / Visa is required for this role
