Land Survey Party Chief
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Land Survey Party Chief to lead surveying teams in the field, ensuring precise data collection and mapping for a variety of projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee survey operations, manage field crews, and utilize advanced surveying technology to deliver accurate results. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in land surveying, and a passion for delivering high-quality work on time and within scope. Monday-Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises, trains, assign and monitor work and provides input for evaluation of members of field survey party
- Ensures that the survey party observes departmental safety rules and regulations
- Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project team
- Prepares and maintains inventory of survey equipment, materials, and truck vehicle
- Conducts land surveys for boundary, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-ways, and easements per specifications
- Conduct topographic surveys with improvements per specifications
- Conduct construction survey support as needed
- Keep field notes and records (with company description codes)
- Knowledge and operation of Trimble Robotic and GPS equipment
- Certain survey assignments may require to be performed on the weekend, during nighttime hours or travel requiring overnight stay.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Senior Party Chief or in a similar surveying role.
- Strong hands-on experience in topographic, boundary, ROW, construction, GPS/control, and hydrographic surveys.
- Experience with GPS Static, RTK, and VRS methods.
- Ability to perform basic to advanced survey calculations.
- Ability to independently complete field assignments and lead survey crews
- Strong communication and coordination skills with project management teams
- Hydrographic and terrestrial LiDAR experience is a plus.
- Proficient with Trimble GPS, Trimble Access, and Robotic Total Stations preferred.
