Project Technician III

The Project Technician III performs technical reviews and processes Street Cut permit applications, construction plans, and supporting documents to ensure compliance with City codes, standards, and permitting requirements. Coordinates with applicants, contractors, utility companies, and internal City departments to resolve deficiencies and facilitate timely permit issuance. Provides technical guidance and customer support regarding permit requirements, documents review comments, and maintains accurate permitting records. Assists with workload management, backlog reduction, and process improvement initiatives while ensuring efficient and accurate permit processing.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Street Cut permit applications, construction plans, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure applications comply with applicable City codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Process permits from initial application through final issuance.
  • Identify deficiencies and coordinate with applicants, contractors, utilities, and City departments to resolve issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and respond to permit-related questions.
  • Document review comments and maintain accurate permitting records.
  • Assist with managing workload and reducing permit backlogs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in engineering, drafting, designing or a closely related field.
  • Four years of related experience in areas such as engineering, drafting, or design.
  • Directly related professional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
