Purchasing Assistant

Bilgewater Group is a Chicago-based diversified services company founded in 2003. We operate across two core divisions: food service and care.

Our food service division manages a network of quick-service and counter-service locations across the greater Chicagoland area, serving thousands of customers every day at high-traffic venues, including commercial districts, transit hubs, and retail centers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to support day-to-day purchasing activities, vendor communication, and order coordination. This role is ideal for someone organized and detail-oriented who enjoys working with orders, suppliers, and internal teams in a remote environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Assist with purchase orders and routine purchasing activities
• Communicate with vendors regarding orders, pricing, availability, and delivery information
• Maintain accurate purchasing and vendor records
• Track orders and follow up on outstanding deliveries
• Review purchasing information for accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate with internal teams on purchasing needs and requests
• Assist with resolving routine order or vendor issues

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, administration, operations, or a similar role
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Good communication and follow-up skills
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets and digital systems
• Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities
• Reliable and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Reliable internet connection and workspace
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

NICE TO HAVE

• Previous purchasing or procurement experience
• Experience with purchase orders, inventory, or vendor management
• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets
• Background in food service, retail, hospitality, or distribution

COMPENSATION

$20–$27 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
