Maintenance Welding Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Maintenance Welding Technician to perform welding, equipment repair, fabrication, and maintenance in an industrial environment. This is a hands-on position requiring strong welding skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.
The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment, fabricating components, reading blueprints, and working with multiple welding and cutting processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs on industrial equipment to restore safe and reliable operation
- Fabricate components, tooling, fixtures, and equipment for maintenance and production needs
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Perform MIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel
- Operate TIG, AC/DC stick welders, plasma cutters, and oxy-acetylene equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment and determine appropriate repair methods
- Select proper materials and welding processes for each project
- Evaluate equipment and job-site conditions to ensure welding can be performed safely
- Support the design and development of new tooling and equipment improvements
- Assist team members with equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Follow OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and PPE requirements
- Travel to customer or field locations as needed for maintenance and repair work
- Work extended hours, weekends, or holidays when business needs require
- Perform additional maintenance, welding, and fabrication duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma with industrial or vocational coursework required
- Technical school training or equivalent hands-on welding/fabrication experience preferred
- 3+ years of welding and fabrication experience, preferably in an industrial maintenance environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with MIG and TIG welding
- Stainless steel and aluminum welding experience preferred
- Experience with stick welding, plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene equipment preferred
- MIG/TIG welding certification for stainless steel and aluminum, including vertical-up welding, preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable and safety-conscious work ethic
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding manual work
- Ability to work in and around confined spaces
- Comfortable working around welding heat, fumes, chemicals, and industrial equipment
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirators
- Willingness to travel to customer locations for assignments lasting several days or weeks
- Ability to work schedules that may exceed a standard 8-hour shift
