Employer description
Help transform the future of British Army training through the power of data.
We're looking for a Senior Data Analyst who can turn data into decisions, working closely with stakeholders to solve meaningful business and operational challenges. Technical skills matter, but we're equally interested in how you think, collaborate and communicate insights. We're particularly interested in candidates who enjoy engaging with stakeholders, understanding operational challenges and using data to influence decisions and outcomes.
Job title:
Senior Data Analyst (Army Collective Training)
Job Description:
🕒 Permanent role - 37.5 hours a week 📍 Hybrid role with 2 or 3 days a week in Warminster
🔐 Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at BPSS level.
What you’ll be doing
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand challenges, ask the right questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyse training, safety and operational data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and actionable insights.
- Develop dashboards, reports and visualisations that support effective decision-making.
- Turn data into compelling stories that help leaders understand performance and make evidence-based decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, standardisation and improved reporting.
- Present findings confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams while retaining the freedom to investigate issues in depth.
- Operate confidently in environments where requirements evolve and answers are not always obvious.
- Champion evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
We're looking for someone who:
- Is naturally curious and enjoys understanding how people, processes and organisations work.
- Has experience working with complex, large-scale data in operational or mission-critical environments.
- Wants to understand the story behind the numbers, not just the metrics themselves.
- Has experience using data and analytics to solve genuine business or operational problems.
- Can build trusted relationships with stakeholders and communicate complex ideas simply.
- Is comfortable working independently, taking ownership and navigating ambiguity.
- Enjoys collaborating with others and contributing to a supportive, high-performing team.
- Can move comfortably between stakeholder conversations and detailed analytical investigation.
- Is motivated by helping people make better decisions through evidence and insight.
- Can confidently explain findings in plain English whilst being able to defend the analysis behind them.
Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Strong practical experience in data analysis, business intelligence or advanced analytics.
- Experience using Power BI, Excel and modern analytical tools to create meaningful insight products.
- Good understanding of data modelling, databases and data quality principles.
- A track record of translating data into actionable recommendations and measurable outcomes
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of collective training
- Knowledge of the military/Army
